PRACTITIONER BIOGRAPHIES

Virginia M. Ciochetti, PT, AT-R, is a 1979 graduate of Quinnipiac University. She is
the owner of Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine Center of Southbury, which she established
in 1986. She was also a Certified Athletic Trainer, having retired after twenty years in
that profession. Ginny is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) as
well as the Orthopedic and Sports Medicine and Private Practice sections; the National
Athletic Training Association (NATA) and the Southbury Business Association (SBA). Ginny is
very involved with charity work through the Marie and Pat Ciochetti Foundation, INC.
which she founded in her parents' memory. She is also a Monastic Scholar of the Abbey of
Regina Laudis in Bethlehem, CT, having made a lifetime commitment there of prayer and work,
through rehabilitation of bodies and restoration and renovation of buildings.

Elizabeth Couture, RPT is a 1975 graduate of The University of Connecticut with a
Bachelors of Science degree in Allied Health. She has extensive years of experience with
myofacial, cranial sacral and neural tension. She specializes in The McKenzie, Mulligan
and muscle energy methods of treating cervical and lumbar diagnoses. Liz is an avid UCONN
Huskies basketball fan, enjoys reading and traveling with her husband.

Rick Welsh, DPT, MSPT is a 1999 graduate of Sacred Heart University with a Master’s of Science degree
in Physical Therapy. Rick returned to Sacred Heart University and received his Doctorate in Physical Therapy
in 2007. Before coming to Physical Therapy & Sports Medicine Center of Southbury, he worked the last 10
years in Derby, CT doing out patient orthopedics. He has extensive experience with myofacial release, muscle
energy techniques, cranial sacral therapy, aquatics and neural tension. Rick is a 5th degree black belt and
has run 4 marathons and counting.

Richard T. DiCarlo, PT, CHT is a 1998 graduate of The University of Hartford with a Bachelor of Science
degree in Physical Therapy. Richard has over 13 years of experience practicing physical therapy in an outpatient
orthopedic setting. He has been a Certified Hand Therapist since 2003. Rich enjoys sports, working out and
playing the guitar.
